The UK Sofa Price Index
An independent, openly-licensed record of what UK sofas actually cost — the advertised price, the crossed-out “was” price, and the sale event each was observed under. We started the record on 6 July 2026 and add to it every week. It is free to download, and free to reuse if you credit ProperSofa.

How we collect it
- A fixed basket. We track the same named sofas over time so week-to-week comparisons are honest — no swapping products to flatter a trend.
- On a schedule. Prices are read from each retailer's public product pages on a weekly cadence and stamped with the date.
- The “was” price, as shown. We record the crossed-out reference exactly as the retailer presents it — and note, where relevant, when that reference is a future price rather than one previously charged.
- No invented numbers. If a price is unavailable it is left blank, never estimated. We don't publish trends the underlying record can't support.

The UK Sofa Price Index is published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. Journalists, researchers and developers are welcome to reuse it — in an article, a chart, a study or an app — provided ProperSofa is credited with a link back to this page.
